Terms and conditions
What you can expect from us, and what we need from you.
Who we are
Esperanza is operated by Esperanza Creative Recovery SARL AU, and these terms apply to this website and to any retreat you book with us. Contact us at chris.soloman@gmail.com.
Appt 15, Imm. 12, Lot Sine, Av Allal Al Fassi, Marrakech, MoroccoWhat Esperanza is — and is not
Esperanza runs therapeutic recovery retreats led by Chris Soloman, an accredited psychotherapist, alongside local collaborators. The work is real and the care is real, but it is important to be precise about what we are not.
- We are not a hospital, a clinic, or a licensed detoxification facility.
- We do not provide medical treatment, prescribe or manage medication, or offer nursing or medical supervision.
- A retreat is not suitable during active withdrawal or detox, which needs medical supervision we cannot provide.
- We are not an emergency or crisis service, and we cannot respond quickly to urgent messages.
If you are in crisis or at immediate risk, contact your local emergency services. In the UK you can call the Samaritans free on 116 123, at any hour.
Enquiries and bookings
Booking begins with a conversation, not a checkout. You contact us, we talk about whether a retreat suits your situation, and only then do we confirm a place. There is no online payment on this site.
A place is confirmed when we have written to you to say so and your deposit has reached us. Until both have happened, nothing is booked.
We may decline an enquiry, or end someone’s participation, if we judge that a retreat is not safe or appropriate for them or for the group. We do not take that lightly, and we will explain our reasoning.
Prices, deposits and payment
Each retreat is €2500 / £2150, all-inclusive. A 10% deposit (£215 / €250) secures your place, with the balance due two weeks before the retreat begins.
The price covers accommodation, all meals, the described activities, group therapy sessions, and yoga and meditation. It does not cover flights, airport transfers, travel insurance, personal spending, or a single-room supplement.
Prices shown on this site apply to the dates listed. If a price changes, the change does not affect a booking we have already confirmed.
Cancellation and refunds
If you cancel more than one month before the retreat starts, your deposit is refunded in full. Inside one month, the deposit is not refundable, because the place has been held for you and the arrangements are made.
If we cancel a retreat — too few participants, or circumstances beyond our control — you receive a full refund of everything you have paid us, including the deposit. That refund is the limit of what we owe you; we cannot reimburse flights or other travel you have booked separately, which is what travel insurance is for.
What we need from you
Some of this matters for your safety, and some for the group’s.
- Tell us honestly about any physical or mental health condition, medication, or support need that could affect your participation. We would rather know and plan than be surprised.
- Arrange your own travel insurance, covering medical care and cancellation. We consider this essential.
- Check your own visa and passport requirements for Morocco, in good time.
- For the trekking and surf retreats, be honest about your fitness. A full kit list follows your booking.
- Respect the confidentiality of everyone else present. What is shared in the group stays in the group.
- Take responsibility for your own behaviour, and follow reasonable requests from us and from our collaborators.
Alcohol and drugs
Our retreats are for people in recovery, and the group depends on that being true for everyone. We ask you not to bring or use alcohol or non-prescribed drugs during a retreat. If you do, we may ask you to leave, without a refund, because of what it costs the others.
Travel, health and liability
Activities take place outdoors and in the sea, and carry the ordinary risks of walking in the countryside, surfing, and travel abroad. You take part at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own decisions about what you are fit to do.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit. Beyond that, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
We are not responsible for events outside our reasonable control — extreme weather, illness, transport disruption, or restrictions imposed by authorities. Where these force a change, we will offer an alternative date or a refund.
This website
The text, photographs and design of this site belong to us or are used with permission, and may not be reproduced without our agreement. Photographs of our collaborators are published with their consent.
We keep the site accurate and up to date, but it describes a programme that can change. Dates, activities and collaborators may be adjusted; what we confirm to you in writing is what governs your booking.
Where we link to another organisation, we are not responsible for what is on their site.
Your privacy
How we handle your information is set out on our privacy page, which forms part of these terms.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Moroccan law. If something goes wrong, please tell us first — most things are resolved by a conversation.
